On the day before Good Friday I had undergone some outpatient surgery- procedure. I was prepping for the OR when I heard a voice on the other side of the curtain start talking to me. A gentlemen named Peter was sharing that he was having difficulty getting ready for his surgery. He shared with me that he was nervous about what was to come from this surgery. I asked if he had known or talked to his surgeon before today and he said he had one conversation. I tried to reassure him to have faith. Faith in his doctors and faith in his path before him for recovery. Sometimes we need to feel Grace in our heart as well as in our soul to give strength to others. Peter- Jesus disciple who was accounted to deny Jesus three times before the cock crowed, had been given the task to have faith. We are like Peter in the sense that we sometimes forget to listen to our heart song and share that simple faith against odds. This gentlemen was in a moment of challenge to his faith for what outcomes would be in his near future. We say " Have Faith" but often forget that coming to faith has had its challenges for embracing it fully. I remind myself that Divinity is a moment and we are stepping into moments of the Divine when presented with the opportunity to help another calm their storm and see that they are not alone. Easter is a very uplifting time to see that we have a new day to resurrect our connection to the Divine in the community, our country, our world and with the universe. We go in and out of moments of the presentation of the Divine. How we manage being present in that moment is our gift of grace today.
